A very interesting visit started with a brief talk on health and safety etc and taking photographs was acceptable unless too much detail was visible e.g. drawings and computer screens. So I have uploaded some images showing some of the stages that the skilled workforce go through to produce these amazing cars.
We were surprised to see stacks of alloy chassis that had been prefabricated off site by another manufacturer. Obviously they are not affected by the weather, after all they are designed to be outside when used on the vehicles!
Indoors wiring looms and lots of bits bolted onto the treated chassis before they even look like cars!
Aluminium body parts are crafted onto a wooden support frame that in turn was created in ash by woodworking experts in the factory.

Starting to look like cars, preformed wings and other panels are fitted to the temporary bodies shown above. The long wing sections are created by another local specialist company that forms them in one process that creates a single piece that is finished in this body shop before fitting.
The wooden former that provided the skeleton for the metal bodies is created from ash wood sourced from Lincolnshire after each part is precisely made. The rear wing arches are made here from laminated sheets of ash that are bent into shape in the same jig as all Morgans produced at the factory.
The dashboards are created from an assortment of veneers the old fashioned way in the wood shop.

After spraying all parts are inspected under lights by hand and eye!
The interiors of the cars are produced and all upholstery work is done on site to produce very bespoke vehicles because there are so many choices of finish available.
Another customised design under construction for a client.

Plenty of parts around to make a car.
Finally completed cars are fully inspected in a sealed dust free environment by workers before leaving the factory.
Just another bespoke Morgan rally car parked outside.
